Data Science for Biology
Information Session
Why Data Science for Biology?
If you’re studying neuroscience, biology or a related life science, you’ve probably noticed how much the field has changed. The questions researchers are asking about how genes are expressed, how the brain processes information, how ecosystems respond to change now generate data at a scale that wasn’t possible to work with even a decade ago. Answering those questions increasingly depends on being able to work with that data computationally.
The Data Science for Biology concentration in the MScAC program is a collaboration between the Departments of Computer Science and Cell & Systems Biology. It is designed for students who want to bring computational skills into their life science work. The concentration gives you the tools you need: machine learning, statistics, algorithms to work with biological data in a more rigorous and systematic way.
Still early in your program, but already wondering how to build a strong graduate school application?
We are hosting an MScAC Data Science for Biology Info Session on Tuesday, July 7, 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Join us to hear from faculty, current students and alumni about course planning, what the admissions committee looks for and where the program has taken people since.
Date: Tuesday, July 7, 2026
Time: 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. EDT
